Ellen also asked Sigourney about her 1988 film Gorillas in the Mist, where the actress portrayed primatologist and conservationist Dian Fossey.

‘Being with the gorillas was the most exciting, transcending experience I’ve ever had,’ said Sigourney.

‘You’re sort of with you cousins, you’re with your family only they’re just that much more wonderful.’

The Avatar star then congratulated Ellen and her spouse Portia de Rossi on their newly launched foundation, The Ellen DeGeneres Wildlife Fund.

Sigourney revealed that she thinks working with gorillas ‘is the greatest job in the world,’ and described her first time touching a gorilla as ‘absolutely incredible.’

The Eyewitness star also told Ellen about the time she was charged by a silverback gorilla.

‘All I could hear was my heart beating and the blood rushing through my veins,’ she told the host about the experience.

It did not negatively affect the actress, however, as she explained that, to her, gorillas ‘smell so good.’
