Vietnamese Snow Skillet Mooncakes: A Quick and Easy Recipe

The snow skin mooncake, icy mooncake, 激光脫毛 snow white cake or crystal mooncake, as it’s often referred to is a Chinese traditional sweet made of cakes decorated with moon and stars, and often contains almonds and raisins. The traditional way to serve this dessert is during the Mid AUTumn festival. Traditionally moon cakes were baked, and then allowed to cool in a hole in the roof. The moon cakes were shared with their parents and children at the mid-autumn celebration.

To make mooncakes, traditional moon cakes are steamed with lard, and spices like star anise cardamom and cinnamon. The mixture is then spread over the dough and allowed to rest for around an hour. After the dough has been cooled and is ready to be removed from the dough by using a spatula.

Make the mooncakes. Cut each half in half and spread one half with dough that has been prepared. The outer skin should be folded over and press it down into the correct position. Then, begin rolling the dough’s insides out onto the prepared skin. Press it down. The skin that has been pressed will prevent the mooncakes from sticking together.

The Vietnamese mooncake made of snow is now decorated after it has been rolling. You can decorate the mooncakes by putting gingham wrappers in white and red. On the wrappers, place fresh fruits such as slices of watermelon, strawberries or chunks. Put lily-like leaves or daisies on top of the wrappers to create a unique look. To add a festive flair add candles in a variety of colors to the tops of the mooncakes.

Once the wrapping is complete and the wrapper is pressed on both sides until the dough wraps around the wrapper. Then with a fork carefully slide the wrapped dough under each curve of the dough.
