Doctors warn against health trend of drinking hydrogen peroxide
Doctors are cautioning against a new health trend that sees people drinking hydrogen peroxide as a way to ward off infections and whiten their teeth.
So-called alternative therapies are promoting the chemical as a way to whiten teeth, naturally treat sinus inflections and online casino remove mucus.
A number of blogs, websites, and YouTube videos have cropped up judi online that promote the new trend.
Most recommend mixing a few drops of Food Grade hydrogen peroxide, which is 35 percent concentrated, with eight ounces of water and drinking it three times a day.

One health website, has even said it can be used as a natural cure for asthma, cancer, diarrhea, irritable bowel syndrome and fatigue.
But this new health trend could be landing people in the emergency room.
Doctors at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minnesota have said six people have been treated so far this year for injuries from drinking highly concentrated hydrogen peroxide.
Though a few of those people didn’t mean to drink the chemical, others said they intentionally drank it believing it was making them healthier.

‘There are a bunch of website and YouTube videos. There’s no science behind any of it helping. There’s no benefit of doing it and it really opens you up to a lot of potential harm,’ Dr Ann Arens, a medical toxicologist at the Minnesota Poison Control System told the .
‘It burns as soon as you drink it.’
The colorless, odorless chemical used in these cases is often stronger than the three to five percent concentration that can be bought at a drug store.
Consuming the toxin can burn holes in the esophagus and stomach, according to Dr Stephen Hendriksen, an emergency medicine doctor at HCMC.
He said they can also create oxygen bubbles that will be released into the blood stream.
Those can then travel up to the brain and cause seizures and stroke-like symptoms.
