Drunk an jailed for life for stabbing 24-year-old teacher 40 times
A vodka-fuelled knifeman who stabbed a ‘brilliant’ teacher – who was dreaming of becoming a priest – in a sexually-motivated attack has been jailed for life with a minimum of 31 years behind bars.
Zbigniew Soj, 24, stabbed Hungarian Borbala ‘Bori’ Benko, 24, a total of 40 times in her own flat before leaving her naked and mutilated body and stabbing another young woman in a separate bedroom.
Klaudia Rogozinka, 21, survived the night time attack at the Christian accommodation Discovery Centre, in Bradford, West Yorkshire, on 21 November, last year.
Polish-born Soj had been drinking beer and vodka, before entering both his victim’s bedrooms with the intent of killing them both as they slept, Bradford Crown Court heard.
He pleaded guilty to murder and attempted murder after telling a doctor he was ‘curious about ending someone’s life’ after he went on the rampage.

Borbala ‘Bori’ Benko, 24, (pictured) was set to attend Cambridge University and wanted to become a priest before she was violently stabbed to death by Soj, who lived in the same accommodation as her. Bori’s mother Krisztina bravely read her victim impact statement to the court and described her daughter as a ‘gift’
Judge Jonathan Rose described the attacks as ‘premeditated, prolonged, extensive and brutal’ on Bori – who was due to study Theology at Cambridge with a view to becoming a priest.
Bradford University student Klaudia managed to fight off Soj despite suffering nine stab wounds and phoned 999 for an ambulance, fearing she was going to die.
The judge described her courage as ‘remarkable’.
Before launching the attacks, Soj had been drinking heavily whilst watching a horror movie in his basement flat in the Discovery Centre.
Soj told a psychiatrist that he had contemplated suicide but then felt energised and confessed he felt ‘a very intrusive thought to end someone’s life’.
The twisted killer said: ‘It was curiosity or jealousy trying to find out what it means to kill someone.I didn’t feel anything. I had no thought of the consequences or morality. I was incredibly determined to do it.
‘I had a feeling I was going to kill more than one person.’
He took two knives from the kitchen, sharpening one of them, and entered Bori’s room first, he stabbed her in a frenzy – before stripping her and performing sexual activity with her dead or dying body.
Judge Rose said Soj derived sexual pleasure from the depraved and violent attack and there were multiple stab wounds to Bori’s breasts and genital area.
Soj’s ‘desire to kill had not been satisfied’ with the murder of Bori, said the judge.
Both victims were ‘wholly innocent’ and had done nothing to offend Soj, Мультики in fact Klaudia was his friend.
On her 999 call Soj can be heard saying: ‘I got f***ing p***ed and this happened.Do you know why?
‘Because I’m jealous that other people can have normal lives, and I can’t. I guess some demons got to me..’
Bori’s mother Krisztina bravely read her victim impact statement to the court and described her daughter as a ‘gift’.
She said Bori was ‘very, very happy in England’ chasing her dreams.
In a statement released after today’s sentencing hearing, she said: ‘Bori had a mission, she had a bright future ahead of her.
‘She devoted her life to the development and teaching of young children. She lived her life according to Christian values.
‘She managed to gain the children’s trust and love within seconds.
‘She deeply believed in equality between people, in the power of love, and she proved this every day.
‘Her dream was to establish a School for Children with special needs in Hungary.
‘As she talked about it: ‘I will build an inclusive school, and it will be a cool place!’
‘So, we need to make her dreams come true, and we have established the Bori Benko Foundation for Children in Hungary to fulfil her dream making this world a better place.’

Krisztina said she can’t shake the last moments of her daughter’s life to of her head.
The mother added: ‘Did she know this was the end, did she call for us, did she cry, was she screaming?Did she call on God?
Richard Wright QC, for Soj, said his client had committed a ‘wicked offence’ for which he is sorry, and ‘he snuffed out a brilliant and aspiring young life.’
Detective chief inspector Vanessa Rolfe said: ‘This is a horrific and spontaneous attack on two young women as they slept in their own home.
‘Soj was someone who they trusted and no-one could have ever predicted he would do this.
‘Bori had her whole life ahead of her and this was cruelly taken away by Soji.
‘I welcome Soj’s guilty plea and sparing Klaudia and Bori’s family to have to go through a trial.
‘I hope that Bori’s family and Klaudia find comfort and justice in today’s sentence.
‘It’s positive news to see that Klaudia is recovering from her injuries and is now trying to move forward with her life.’
